DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Some Decatur voters called on city council members to implement changes to the city's water rate Monday night.
A study presented to council this month found the current structure is "adequate to operate and maintain the water system."
The study's author suggests changes to ADM's rate when its contract expires in 2037.
It found ADM's rate does not fully cover the amount of water it uses, and voters demanded that the company pay its fair share.
An ADM representative also spoke during public comment and said the company purchased a water treatment plant from the city, paid to drill wells and paid millions toward the lake dredging project.
The city took no action on any changes.
