EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) - Effingham County officials met Wednesday afternoon to provide the community with updates regarding storm cleanup and recovery efforts.Â
Officials opted to extend the county's emergency declaration an extra 30 days after an EF-3 tornado hit the area last week.Â
Effingham County Board Chairman Joshua Douthit issued the executive order, which will also remain in place during the extension.Â
Douthit is aware of certain scams that outside businesses have tried to use against Effingham County citizens.Â
"Anyone that's coming from outside Effingham County that is not an established business prior to the tornado in Effingham County that is soliciting services, must register with the County Board offices," Douthit said. Â
The Effingham County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) said several state and local agencies and organizations will be at the Multi-Agency Resource Event.Â
The event will take place from 1-7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday in the Hearts Rock Café at Effingham High School.
