DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A man who was found dead next to a Danville creek Wednesday afternoon has been identified.Â
Danville police responded just before 4:30 p.m. to a report of a man down and unresponsive in the 400 block of East Williams Street near Stoney Creek.
Officers found a 45-year-old man, now identified as Stephen R. Petmecky of Rantoul, lying next to the creek when they arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Danville Police, there are no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.
The death is still under investigation as police await an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.
