SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A human skull that was found in Springfield in September has now been identified as the remains of a man who was reported missing in 2021.Â
The coroner confirmed that the skull found near the 6200 block of Winterberry Lane on September 20 belonged to Kenneth P. Brown from Springfield.
Brown was 42 when he was reported missing in April of 2021.Â
His cause of death has not yet been released.Â
WAND covered Brown's disappearance, speaking to his family in May of 2021. Brown was last seen at the Days Inn Hotel on April 14, 2021. His family told WAND News then that they kept in touch on a regular basis before he went missing, so they knew something was wrong when no one heard from him.
They had even offered a $2,000 reward for information to find him.Â
This is a developing story.Â
