CLINTON, Ill. (WAND) - Three nonprofits were surprised with a donation of $800,000 divided amongst them. The donor wished to remain anonymous, leaving many calling it an angel donation. Â
"This is the biggest gift that we have received. And I've said this before that when you receive things like this, this amount, you know that you're doing something good," said a Clinton YMCA representative. Â
Tears were overflowing with gratitude as nonprofits accepted shocking donation amounts. The Clinton YMCA received $500,000, the Neighborhood Care Center received $100,000 and Encore Development Services received $200,000.
The donor hand-picked each of these organizations in admiration of the service they provide in the community. Donations were given to the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation to disburse.Â
"These are transformational gifts because they're unrestricted and in the nonprofit sector, that's very hard to get," said Natalie Becker, President of Heart of Illinois Community Foundation.Â
