MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - A woman charged with a felony after authorities say she stole over $500,000 from a Mattoon dentist pleaded not guilty Monday.
According to a charging document from the Coles County State's Attorney, Rebecca Gutierrez was said to have stolen money from Brian Hastings and the Hastings and Havlik Family Dentistry between June 2020 and Sept. 30, 2025.
Gutierrez was charged with two Class X felonies for stealing between $500,000 and $1 million.
Coles County court records stated that Gutierrez appeared in court on Monday and pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial.
Gutierrez will return to court at 9 a.m. Jan. 12.
