MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur man has been denied pretrial release after being arrested on child pornography charges. 

Austin Brown was arrested on May 5 following an investigation. 

Court records show that on August 11, the Decatur Police Department started an investigation after a cyber tip came in that someone had uploaded child sexual abuse material onto their account on Discord on July 17. 

The IP address was linked back to a Decatur residence where Brown lived. 

Police said Brown admitted to downloading and viewing sexual abuse material of victims under the age of 13. 

He was previously investigated by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Police while he was a student at SIUE. 

Brown will be due in court again May 20.
