DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A man was arraigned and pleaded not guilty following a deadly shooting outside of a Danville grocery store. 

Police said 23-year-old Dominick Cotton of Danville was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon. 

Danville police responded to the Save-A-Lot parking lot at 2 East Main Street just after 5 p.m. May 2 for reports of a fight and gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers found two people who had been shot. One man, 22-year-old Ricky Dandridge Jr., died in the hospital. 

Police said the second person is doing well.

Cotton's pretrial date was set for July 6.
