SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Springfield Police Department arrested a woman they believe stabbed a man to death Saturday morning.
Officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 400 block of North 4th Street at 4:46 a.m. When they arrived, they found a 48-year-old man with life threatening injuries.
According to the Sangamon County Coroner, the man died at 5:10 a.m. after being taken to the hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
Just after 10 a.m. Saturday morning, police arrested 44-year-old Natasha P Blackwell for first degree murder and aggravated domestic battery.
Blackwell is awaiting formal charges in the Sangamon County Jail, and the incident is still under investigation.
