JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Nearly nine months after a tornado destroyed multiple fields and the restaurant at Future Champions Sports Complex, the owners have rebuilt and are getting ready for the 2026 baseball season.

In June 2025, a severe storm made its way through Jacksonville, the bulk of the damage happening in West Jacksonville and at the Future Champions Sports Complex.

There was extensive damage to the facility's restaurant, which the storm passed directly through, bisecting the building. Debris and insulation from the building were scattered across multiple fields. Projectiles tore down protective nets, and multiple yards of fencing were bent or warped.

Owners Adam and Kristin Jamison said the damages were over $1 million, and they paid for many of the repairs out of pocket. They had to replace dugouts on three out of their four fields, replace nets, build new batting cages, repair the turf and get the concessions stands and restaurant repaired. But now, they're just about ready for the upcoming season.

"We know that in the next two weeks, we're really ramping up to make sure we get the rest of the netting hung, and all of the details finished so that we can kick it off for our high school jamboree," Kristin said.

Throughout the process, they have remained thankful for how the community has shown up for them.

"People that I didn't even know just showed up just to lend a hand," Adam said. "It was awesome."
