TUSCOLA, Ill. (WAND) — Tuscola residents are being asked to conserve water due to a large water leak in Champaign County.

Illinois American Water Company said there was a leak in a line that supplies the City of Tuscola.

Residents are being asked to only use water for essential uses, and to avoid watering lawns, washing cars and doing laundry.

A boil order was also issued for customers on the Arcola/Tuscola Joint Waterline Agency line north of Tuscola on Route 45 and Champaign County Road 900E. According to the city, the boil order only affects customers that get their water bill from the Arcola/Tuscola Joint Waterline Agency.

City of Tuscola water customers remain unaffected.

The city said the leak is expected to be fixed by Saturday morning.
