CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — The United Way of Champaign County announced Beverly Baker as its next president and CEO.
She will officially take over and work with current president and CEO Sue Grey, who will retire in March.
"I have had the privilege of working alongside Beverly for nearly my entire time at United Way," Grey said. "Her dedication to families, her leadership skills, and her heart for this community are unmatched."
Baker has been with the United Way team since 2007. Throughout her career, she spent 15 years as an early childhood educator and child care center director, and 17 years in grant management.
Baker has received multiple awards including WILL's Children's Champion Award and the Junior League's Living Legendary Award.
"Leading United Way of Champaign County has been a dream of mine. I love this community, and I am honored to continue serving it in this new role," Baker said. "I look forward to working with our incredible staff, volunteers, supporters and partners to build a stronger, more resilient Champaign County for every family."
