MARTINTON, Ill. (WAND) - Dramatic video captured the moment a concrete grain bin collapsed in Martinton in northern Iroquois County on Wednesday.Â
Several Facebook users posted video that showed a grain bin spilling corn from about halfway up the silo. As it fell to the ground it snapped power lines causing a brief flash and spark.
Ameren reported about 160 customers without power.Â
One witness near the grain elevator who spoke to WAND News called the situation "scary."
Iroquois County Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post that an Ameren representative is unsure of the timeframe to restore power. The EMA also said the outage could be lengthy because the "entire power line structure needs to be rebuilt."
The sheriff's office said a police presence was not requested, only fire department personnel. It's not clear if anyone was hurt but a person at the scene told WAND News they didn't think anyone was injured.Â
