SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Applications are now open to area high school students for the FBI Springfield Field Office's Teen Academy.Â
The 2026 Teen Academy will take place on Friday, Aug. 7, where students will participate in interactive sessions on the digital and physical world led by FBI officials.Â
FBI Springfield said the program will be open to juniors and seniors during the 2026-27 school year.Â
A committee will evaluate a student's GPA, school and community service and a required essay.Â
Students over 16 must provide their Social Security number for a background check, and they are also urged to push for their candidacy by asking questions about the program and their applications.Â
The application deadline is Saturday, May 30.Â
