FITHIAN, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois State Police said a woman's body was found not far from a vehicle that became stranded in a ditch in rural Vermilion County Tuesday. 

ISP told WAND News the woman's body was found on a riverbank several miles from the original crash scene on Rt. 49 near County Road 2100 North. 

The woman's name has not been released. 

Police responded to an area near Fithian around 10 a.m. Tuesday after a call about an unoccupied vehicle that ended up in a ditch. Police said the vehicle had water damage.

Several first responders started a search for anyone belonging to the vehicle.  

ISP is still investigating.
