DECATUR, IL- The face of Decatur's downtown area may soon change now that one historic building is for sale.

The marquee posted above the Lincoln Square Theatre says the building is officially for sale.

The theatre has struggled to make repairs and keep the doors open for quite some time. On Monday, the theater was listed for sale by Brinkoetter and Associates.

A news release sent out by Brinkoetter Monday says the Lincoln Square Theatre is a non-profit organization and all money from the sale will go to pay off outstanding debt. Also, no board member can profit from a sale.

The asking price for a historic building is $250,000.

The theatre was built back in 1916 and was considered one of the finest theatres of its time. A Decatur leadership team started restoring the theatre in 1990 and since then the theatre restoration has gotten more than $1.8 million in state and private grants.
