DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Macon County Sheriff's Department deputy was arrested early Friday morning in Indiana.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department said Todd Choatie was booked into jail shortly after midnight. Putnam County is just west of Indianapolis.Â
He's charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.Â
Details on what led to Choatie's arrest haven't been made available. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department said a statement might be released later Friday.
The Macon County Sheriff's Department confirmed Choatie has been a deputy since 1998.
Department spokesperson Sgt. Scott Flannery said they haven't spoke with Choatie yet because he's still in jail in Indiana. They have yet to review any facts surrounding his arrest so Choatie's employment status remains unchanged. Flannery said the investigation is a personnel matter.Â
