Man arrested in June anhydrous ammonia theft

NIANTIC -- Macon County sheriff's deputies arrest a man accused of stealing anhydrous ammonia back in June.

Deputies were called on out a suspicious vehicle at Niantic Crop Service on June 9, 2013. The Niantic Fire Department was already there because of a strong smell of anhydrous ammonia. Firefighters found a four-wheeler near the anhydrous ammonia tanks on the property, with materials to steal the chemicals.

Timothy A. Hemingway, 45, told deputies he was paid $100 to steal the anhydrous ammonia. He's being held on $25,000 bond.
