DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A Danville man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to choking his girlfriend to the point she lost consciousness and pointing a gun in her face.
On October 4, Glen Mott, formerly of Danville, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery - Strangulation, a class 2 felony, for 5 years Illinois Department of Corrections, to be served at 85%, followed by 4 years mandatory supervised release.
Mott also pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, a class 3 felony, for 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by 6 months mandatory supervised release. The sentences in this case are to run concurrently.
On June 18, 2024, Danville Police Department responded to a home in Danville for domestic battery.
The victim said her boyfriend, Glen Mott, had grabbed her, slammed her to the floor and pointed a handgun at her face, threatening her, and subsequently choking her until she temporarily lost consciousness.
A witness reported that the victim could be heard yelling for Mott to leave, and the defendant could be heard threatening to kill the victim.
The victim was able to run away to get help.
Danville Police officers searched the home of Mott and the victim and found a handgun that matched the description given by the victim. The handgun was loaded with a live round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Danville Police Department for their prompt response to domestic violence cases. She said, “Felons who commit acts of domestic violence pose a significant threat to not only the victims and their families, but also to the community as a whole. My office is committed to supporting domestic violence victims in Vermilion County, together with our local agencies, to keep our community safe."
