URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A man has been sentenced for the shooting death of 51-year-old Eddie S. Williams, Jr. last June.
Officers found Williams in the 1300 block of Silver Street dead from a gunshot wound to his neck on June 30, 2023.
Sidney A. Smith was arrested in September 2023 after an investigation into the shooting.
In Champaign County Court, Smith pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison last week. He received a credit of 376 days in custody.
