CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The METCAD 911 Center is implementing new protocols to help make dispatch calls more efficient.

METCAD said automated secure alarm protocols use software to automatically alert dispatch centers when an emergency response is needed.

This means alarm companies won't have to call METCAD directly, which METCAD says will help speed up response times.

METCAD joins 147 other dispatch centers in the U.S. to adopt the ASAP system.
