Urbana, IL - Farmers are speaking out against a major road being built in Urbana.
The Olympian Drive Project has been under consideration for more than a decade, but local farmers protested the road project at Monday night's council meeting.
The farmers say the project will destroy their land and ultimately their livelihood, however Urbana mayor Laurel Prussing says this road will spur economic development, bring in new businesses, and create close to 8,000 jobs.
Some residents are demanding the council listen to more public input. The council will vote on whether to move forward with the project sometime in April.
