Police: 1 dead after vehicle hits person in Decatur

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -- A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle late Friday night in Decatur.

It happened on South Side Drive in front of Storage Masters just before 11 p.m.

Decatur police said a man was in the road when he was hit by an SUV. There are no crosswalks in the area of the crash.

The driver was not hurt.

The name of the person who died has not been released. But police said the man was a 48-year-old from Decatur.

The road was closed for several hours.

Police said the driver of the SUV did not appear to be under the influence.

The crash is under investigation.
