Coach Mark Ramsey

PANA, Ill. (WAND) — Pana High School has secured one of the most successful local coaches to lead its football program.

The district announced that Mark Ramsey would be taking the top football job in the coming school year.

Ramsey most recently retired from St. Teresa in 2023 after leading the team to a win in the state championship.

With a decades-long career, Ramsey has the fifth most wins in IHSA history at 332.

"I think that Pana football is really exciting," said Ramsey in a statement. "There's great support from the school board, administration, and the community. It's a great situation to come into and to continue the success of the program."

Ramsey's new squad will hit the turf on Aug. 22 in a match up against Central A&M, where he coached previously. In addition to his coaching duties, he'll be teaching physical education.
