DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man who crashed into two utility poles and a chain link fence in Decatur was possibly drunk, according to the Decatur Police Department.
The 61-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and had to undergo surgery, according to police.
His name has not been released.
Police said they were called to the 2200 block of N. 22nd St. near TCCI Manufacturing and the ADM Railcar Repair facility just after 1 p.m. Thursday.
Police said the driver went over the center line, crossed oncoming traffic, hit two utility poles, and several sections of a chain link fence.
No other vehicles were involved.
Police said the driver had a blood-alcohol level of .12 percent. The legal limit in Illinois is .08 percent.
Police said because of the man's medical condition, he hasn't been charged. But police expect to eventually charge the man with driving under the influence.Â
