MONTICELLO Ill. (WAND) — Do you enjoy finding constellations in the night sky? Allerton Park & Retreat Center has an event for you. You will find constellations like the Big Dipper and deep-space objects through telescopes.
Organizers with the Champaign-Urbana Astronomical Society invite the public to attend their Saturday Stargazing nights. They will be held at the Sun Singer from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on September 7, October 5, and November 2. The public is invited to arrive early, bring snacks, and play lawn games as the sun sets. They add that the best views begin around 8:45 p.m., and the event will end by 10:30 p.m.
If you have a telescope, you are encouraged to bring it, but it is optional.
Organizers encourage registration three days before the event, but you may pay in person at the event. It costs $5 for all ages.
