DEWITT COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The Waynesville Fire Department is warning people about scammers posing as local fire departments to get money.
The chief got a complaint from someone who was contacted to make donations to a volunteer fire department fund. That fund does not exist.
WFD said their department would never call residents asking for donations.
If you do want to donate to a local fire department, contact the department directly to ask how you can help.
