TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — This year, Illinois Tourism picked 20 businesses to feature in their Holiday Gift Guide. One of those businesses is Farmhouse Signs & Co. in Taylorville.

There you can purchase hand painted signs, home decor, and apparel.

Owner Lindsey Bliler says the recognition is especially meaningful, after a decade of hard work to get her business off the ground. Bliler started making signs ten years ago, and opened her store front five years ago. She still hand paints each sign and boasts that each sign is touched 23 times before it's put on the shelf.

"When you shop here, you're supporting my family and then I am supporting the community too," said Bliler. "If you are shopping here, your dollars are staying in this community, which is absolutely amazing. I'm going to go shop somewhere else and then from there it just goes on and on."

Bliler started the business when her kids were little, and now they are old enough to help run the cash register when they are in the store. She says the pride they have in the location, and the joy from seeing recognition like this, help her stay motivated.

The entrepreneur says she is happy to be able to represent Taylorville in the gift guide this year. She hopes the recognition beings more people into Taylorville to shop for the holidays.

"I love Taylorville, we are such a small community and we are all friends here, especially most of the business owners," said Bliler. "For me to be able to do this is great because we are going to get other people to come and see how amazing Taylorville really is and support other businesses too,"
