(WAND) - A new twist hopes to prevent a fourth quarter collapse in the Bears Stadium deal.
New legislation Sunday night would give municipalities in Cook County the ability to create a municipal stadium authority.Â
That means the Chicago Bears would pay the upfront costs of building a stadium but then turn it over to the stadium authority to lease.Â
The organization would then pay zero property taxes on the stadium, but they would have to pay property taxes on the other buildings in their mega development.Â
Lawmakers still need to pass the plan before the midnight deadline.Â
