TUSCOLA, Ill. (WAND) - Back in May of 2023, the Tuscola Fire Department was still looking for bidders to get started on their new facility. Now, they're nearly complete.
"A nice new space for our members. It will allow us to be a little more efficient in the way some of the things are laid out as far as where our equipment is," said Fire Chief, Brian Moody
The original building was completed decades ago. But as time moves on, the need for more space and equipment does as well.
"This will allow us to move all of the trucks into this space. We'll also gain some equipment storage and some work space as well as a very modern meeting room with video conferencing capabilities, and an office and a kitchen space," said Moody.
Moody also said he hopes this will go toward recruiting efforts.
"My hope is that it will help with recruitment as well by providing a new environment and new facilities. We've already seen some interest from potential new members because of the construction," said Moody.
The project is set to be complete by May.
