Two die in mid-morning fire in Virden

UPDATE:

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed two people died in a fire in Virden.

Allmon said a 13-year-old boy and a 34-year-old male from Virden died after being transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.

Autopsies for both are scheduled.

The deaths remain under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the State Fire Marshal's Office.

VIRDEN, Ill. (WAND) -- Several people are hurt after a early morning fire.

Virden Fire Protection District said, the fire happened in the 200 block of Dean Street around 9:30 Saturday morning.

When firefighters arrived they found the home in flames.

Shortly after arriving, rescue crews helped two people get out of the home.

Firefighters said, life flight was requested but were not available due to the weather conditions.

After another search another person was found inside the home and received medical care.

No word on how the fire started. The State Fire Marshall is investigating.
