DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — With the holidays just weeks away, the time to mail out packages and presents is drawing to a close. Its important to keep the following dates in mind to make sure you're keeping your holidays merry and bright.
December 18 | First Class Mail & USPS Ground Advantage |
December 19 | Priority Mail |
December 21 | Priority Mail Express |
Children also have until December 16 to mail a letter to Santa Claus.
Tim Norman, Strategic Communications for Illinois USPS suggests mailing out earlier if you are sending packages to Hawaii or Alaska. He also suggests double-checking addresses and packing as securely as possible. "Remember, there's going to be millions and millions of packages that could come into contact, fall on each other going through the process." explained Norman. "So you want to do everything you can, to make sure that package isn't going to come open or get damaged."
Although their busy season can be overwhelming, Norman said it continues to be fulfilling year after year. "This is our season. We look forward to this. It's our turn to shine...When you handle a package, you know, it might be somebody's Christmas gift. And so a lot of pride goes into that. And the employees really want to do a good job."
