Decatur Scholar Sendoff Event Gearing Up

Central Illinois- There is still a week left of winter break, and your children may be getting a little stir crazy sitting in the house, but there a plenty of events going on locally to keep your children entertained. 

Rock Springs Nature Center is holding a Jingle Bells Mini Camp.

-Wednesday December 28, for ages 1-5. It will feature hands-on activities and songs. Must be accompanied by an adult. Fee $10. Must register by noon December 27th.

-Thursday December 29, for ages 3-5. It will feature hands-on activities, songs and short hike. Must be accompanied by an adult. Fee $10. Must register by noon December 28th. Register by clicking here.

Decatur Indoor Sports Center is holding a Winter Break Day Camp. The camps run from 6:30 am-6 pm, and will feature different activities or field trips daily. The fee is $38 per day or $33 for residents. View the schedule by clicking here.

Forsyth Public Library will be showing The Secret Life of Pets on Wednesday, December 28th beginning at 1 pm. 

Animal Encounters at the Orpheum Children's Museum in Champaign. Wednesday, December 28th, from 11:00 am-11:30 am, children will be given the opportunity to be up and close with animals. It is free with admission.

Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center will be hosting winter break public swim hours. Public swim hours will be from 1:30 pm-9 pm until January 2nd. Entrance fee is $3 for non-swimmers and $6 for swimmers. On Thursday, December 29, the cost for swimmer is lowered to $4. 

A Christmas Story Interactive Movie at the Chatham Library. On December 28th beginning at 6:00 pm, the library will be showing A Christmas Story complete with props and fun activities to keep children of all ages entertained. An award will be given out for the tackiest Christmas sweater. It is free to attend. 

Family Game Day at the Lincoln Library. On December 29th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, the Lincoln Library will be hosting a family game day complete with board and table games including Bop-It, Uno, Apples to Apples and many more.
