Woman killed in IL Route 125 crash near Ashland identified

ASHLAND, Ill. (WAND) - A woman who was killed in a crash on Illinois Route 125 near Ashland Wednesday morning has been identified. 

Illinois State Police were called to Illinois Route 125 near Glick Road at 7:30 a.m. 

Police said an SUV going east on Illinois Route 125 pulled into the westbound lane to pass a vehicle and pulled into the path of a truck. 

The SUV struck the truck. 

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sangamon County Coroner identified the person as 48-year-old Crystal Shanks. 

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital with injuries. 

Shortly after the crash, there was a second crash near the same location involving a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle. No one was injured in that crash. 

Illinois Route 125 was shut down in both directions but has since reopened.
