DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Wreaths Across America is an initiative to keep veterans included during the holidays.

Family members or businesses can donate to purchase a wreath for any veteran in Danville National Cemetery.

"Now it's so many years later and we are global. There are places in France and just all over that participate every year." said Location Coordinator for Danville National Cemetery, Tammy Williams.

Last year, people purchased nearly 4,000 wreaths. This year, things aren't looking the same.

"There are just over 12,000 buried here so 3,900 is just a drop in the bucket. But this year we're extremely down, we're only at 700." said Williams.

It's also important for Williams to include children during each event.

"I definitely don't turn kids away because I want them to experience this because those are the ones that are going to take up when I can't do it anymore." stated Williams.

If you're interested in purchasing a wreath, contact Williams at 217-516-2354 or danvillewreaths@yahoo.com

This years ceremony will be held on December 16 at 11 a.m. at Danville National Cemetery.
