DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Fifth graders across central Illinois are learning all the tips and tricks in engineering.

Fifth graders showcased their Rube Goldberg contraption completed with help from their classmates. Engineering in the Classroom had engineers visit the students for six weeks to help them with their projects.

"Engineering as a profession is so broad. There are so many opportunities, and with programs like this we're able to show those kids that," said Andrew Jordan, President of the board at Engineering in the Classroom.

Students like Kaia Arndt took these lessons as an opportunity to think about her future.

"Maybe if I want to do like stuff with engineering or something, that would help me out because I'll remember the stuff that I learned back here," said Arndt.
