CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - YWCA of Champaign County has a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and strengthen communities. With the launch of their new project The Empowering Black and Brown Women Project, they're hoping to take things a step further.
"We will format a strong supportive network of women committed to working together for social injustice and we're really just trying to empower women to stand against systemic racism." said Project Manager, Brandy Smith.
Shortly they will begin recruiting women to take part in the project. Smith says she hopes this brings many women together to create a strong and powerful network.
"I hope they're really looking forward to coming together and discussing common issues and then probably offering some really great solutions." stated Smith.
