Meteorologist Ben Whitney joined the WAND Weather Team as the Weekend Evening Meteorologist in April 2026.
A Harristown, Illinois native, Ben has grown up around Decatur his entire life and is excited to begin his career close to his hometown.
Ben graduates from Eastern Illinois University in May 2026 with a major in Physical Geography and a triple minor in Broadcast Meteorology, GIS, and Earth Sciences.
At EIU, Ben was a member of WEIU, forecasting for the student-ran News Watch for 3 years before being hired at WAND.
Ben is a huge sports fan, and enjoys watching his favorite teams whenever he gets the chance.
Ben also enjoys the outdoors and camping, as well as spending time with those close to him.
