ARGENTA, Ill. (WAND) - The Argenta-Oreana Bombers are off to a good start to the spring baseball season. As of Wednesday, they sit at 12-4, with a perfect 4-0 start in the Lincoln Prairie Conference.

"We're a team of routine. We have a lot of bats going," said senior centerfielder Kharsen West of the Bombers' start. "On the other side of defense, we have a lot of gloves. Pitchers are trusting in their defense, we have the bats going, so we're just rolling through."

Head Coach Eric Gebben added, "The lineup has bought into putting the ball in play. We've limited our strikeouts. In our pitching staff, we [have] six guys that have about 12 innings pitched. I can put anybody on the mound; they're ready to get outs."

As a team, the Bombers have taken on an identity of self-focus, unworried about any opponent, only on themselves.

"They have adapted a personality of a nameless, faceless opponent and we don't look at records," Ebben said. "We assume everybody we play is a very gifted ball club and we come ready to go."

"I would say it helps a lot," West said of how that's helped. "Because either way it doesn't matter who you're playing, you're still playing the game of baseball at the end of the day."

Gebben said he's hoping the team can continue to be aggressive at the plate, while cutting down out baserunning miscues and outs on the basepaths.

"[We have to] continue to take this one game at a time, as cliché as that may be," Ebben said. "For these guys to continue to just have that nameless, faceless opponent, and they're galvanizing. They're coming together as a singular unit and it's fun to watch and it makes my job pretty easy."

The Bombers are set for the heart of their Lincoln Prairie Conference schedule.
