Elyce Knudsen named CCIW Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -- In a week in which she became Millikin’s all-time leading scorer, Elyce Knudsen was selected College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in women’s basketball on Monday afternoon.

Monday’s announcement marked Knudsen’s 12th career CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week award and her first since Jan. 2. The senior guard averaged 33.5 points in two CCIW starts last week, including a 38-point performance Saturday against Carroll that marked her seventh 30-point game of the season.

Also in Saturday’s contest in Decatur, Knudsen pushed her career scoring total to 2,046 points to pass Lindsay Ippel as MU’s all-time leader in points scored. Coupled with her 29-point effort in last Wednesday’s win over Illinois Wesleyan, Knudsen shot 50 percent form the floor, 44 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent at the three-throw line during the week.
