CHICAGO, Ill. (WAND) --Â Keaton Wagler is working out for several NBA teams ahead of the NBA draft next month. He's also gearing up to hear his name called in the top 10 after an outstanding freshman year with the Illini.
Wagler entered this season underrated but turned into the primary ball handler for the Illini helping the team get to the final four for the first time in 21 years.
In his one year at Illinois he averaged 17.9 points per game, shooting 39% from threes and 45% from the field.
He also racked up a ton of awards including Consensus All America Second Team, the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award and many others.
But Wagler said his whole basketball career he's been looked at as too small and is looking forward to continuing to show what he can do.
Keaton is projected to be the first Illinois player selected in the top 14 since Meyers Leonard who went 11th overall back in 2012.
The NBA draft starts June 23.Â
