CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Amid speculation he could insert himself into the NCAA transfer portal and search for alternative programs, Illini quarterback Luke Altmyer announced he is staying at the U-of-I.

In an post on his X page, Luke simply shared a gif to his feed initially saying, “Keep the Champaign Flowing..."

Altmyer was among a long list of quarterbacks suggested as a possible replacement for former Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava.

Last season, Altmyer led Illinois to a 10-3 record which tied the program's single season wins record. He also ranked as one of the most efficient passers in the country in 2024, throwing for 21 scores and just 5 interceptions in the regular season.

In December, Altmyer took to center court of the State Farm Center during the Illini men's basketball matchup against #1 ranked Tennessee. It was there he made his initial commitment to returning to the program for another season.
