NORMAL, Ill. (WAND) - In their third-straight trip to the Final Four, the Cissna Park volleyball team has won the 1A state championship!
The Timberwolves topped Stockton in straight-sets (25-11, 25-14) to polish off a season with a record of 40-1.
"It hasn't even set in how big of a moment this is," said senior outside hitter Addison Lucht after the game. "It's so special. We knew. This group, we've been so tight together since we've been playing since fourth grade. We've always had a special bond and to be able to do this as our class of seniors... But these younger classmen are coming up so we're not done yet."
Cissna Park had made four previous trips to the state semifinals. Their lone chance at a title came in 2015, but they fell short and settled for second place. Now in his 18th season as head coach, Josh Landon and his T-Wolves are at the top of 1A.
Nine seniors will graduate in the Spring, but many players will return hoping to continue their success the last three seasons.
