DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — St. Teresa's new boys basketball head coach hosted a summer camp Tuesday for students in first through eighth grade.
Rodney Walker, who starred for St. Teresa basketball as a teenager, recently returned to his alma mater as head coach.
Walker hosted about 70 kids inside St. T's gym to work on their skills on the court.
Walker is preparing to break in a new squad this season. He said it was important to take time to help young players develop before the season begins, saying, "They're willing to learn. That's the fun thing about this age. It's a fun age. With the older kids, you get into more of the skills and the guts of basketball, but we try to keep it fun for the youngsters as well."
