SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Springfield fire crews evacuated passersby Friday following a gas leak at Springfield's Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.Â
The Springfield Fire Department said that it received a call about 11:11 a.m. to StandardZero on the north end of the airport grounds.Â
SFD told WAND News that contractors were working on the parking lot and struck the gas line 100 feet from the building.Â
People were evacuated as a precaution. Marten eventually responded to the scene to shut off the gas.Â
SFD said that crews have since cleared.Â
