Decatur nonprofit gives away over $3,700 worth of gifts cards to local families

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A few local families got to go shopping at a local Dollar Tree for free thanks to a gift card giveaway.

World Service Enterprise, a Decatur nonprofit, handed out $50 gift cards on Tuesday to help families pay for everyday essentials.

Carlotta Witherspoon-Taylor, the organization's founder, said that over 75 gift cards were handed out, totaling over $3,700.

"Oh, the turnout was awesome. We couldn't ask more from the community, from the people, from the supporters and organizations that sent different people here. And we do appreciate everybody that came out," Witherspoon-Taylor said.

According to its website, World Service Enterprise is a community outreach organization that develops programs geared towards helping those re-enter the workforce and more.
