ILLIOPOLIS, Ill. (WAND) — Police are investigating after a prank call threatening Sangamon Valley Schools Friday.
In a letter sent to families and staff, the Sangamon Valley School District said the Sangamon County Sheriff's Department notified staff of a phone call reporting a potential threat inside a bathroom at the district's Illiopolis campus.
The campus includes Sangamon Valley Middle School and Sangamon Valley Intermediate School.
The district said no students were on campus at the time of the report, and school safety protocols were immediately implemented.
Deputies searched the building but found no threat or suspicious items, and the report was determined to be a prank, according to the district.
The sheriff's department is still investigating who made the false report.
