DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Central Illinois has been in a long stretch of luck with great weather.

In the past week, highs have hovered around 80° with a lot of sunshine giving plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the nice weather.

Well, that string of good luck is about to end, however, that doesn't mean it's bad news.

A cold front is expected to approach Central Illinois late Wednesday and with it comes some much needed rainfall.

Our hometowns have seen a long period of dry weather and while that might be good for some crops, such as corn, it isn't necessarily great for house plants and gardens.

While the exact amount of rainfall is still yet to be determined, we do know one thing with certainty that comes with this front.

Another glimpse of Fall weather is expected as highs will go from the low 80's Wednesday to near 70° come Thursday afternoon.

On top of that, there looks to a couple overnights that we could see lows drop in the upper 40's, meaning plants may need to be covered or brought inside if they are susceptible to cold weather.
