DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Have you seen the insane videos of the record snow in Kamchatka, Russia? If not, Google them!
The Kamchatka snow indirectly impacts Illinois as this is the source region for air at times. The record snow over that peninsula (10-13 feet) will not make its way here. It's a completely different geography. However, the depth of cold air swallowing Kamchatka and eastern Siberia will continue to drift into Alaska and Canada.
The snow-chilled air will be modified somewhat by the time it arrives here later this weekend and into this weekend. Nonetheless, dangerously cold feelslike temperatures will be had. If that weren't enough, WAND Weather is tracking a storm that will skirt the Gulf Coast states, perhaps bringing accumulating snow this far north.
Stay tuned, and stay safe out there.
