DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Monday and happy June! Another 80-degree day greeted us to kick off the month in central Illinois, with our stretch of temperatures running above average continuing into the new month. A little cloud cover will stay with us into sunset tonight, before clearing skies overnight.
Areas south of I-72 have the chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms over the next couple of hours. Areas north of I-72Â will continue to stay dry. No severe storm chances are expected as these storms develop and roll across our area, and we will see these showers and storms out of the region by sunset.Â
A strong high-pressure system from north of the Great Lakes will sink down and keep us dry and clear heading through much of the next week ahead. We’ll also continue to see those above-average temperatures into the first few days of June, and we’ll start to warm into next weekend with highs back in the mid 80s.Â
